Yesterday afternoon while napping under the tall scented pines tree near the
babbling brook I had a very unusual dream...you see... I dreamt I was having an interview with God that very
moment..
Timidly, and apprehensively, I said to God, "Do you really want to speak
to me...a sinner?" God chucked as He cupped my face with His precious hands and looked into my
eyes. His eyes sparkled like precious jewels as He related to me,
"My precious child, my time is eternal!"
Then God said to me, "What questions would you like to ask me?" I fidgeted for what seemed to be an eternity before I was able to speak my
first concern. "God," I asked,
"What puzzles you the most about the way
people choose to live their life?"
God looked at me and answered, "I would say the fact that people get so bored with childhood...they want to grow up so fast... and then... when
they reach adulthood... they want to be children again. People jeopardize
their good health in order to make money...then...they spend all of their hard
earned money trying to restore their health. They spend so much time
thinking about the future that they miss living in the present...and they end up
never living in the present or the future. People choose to live as though
they will never die...and they die as if they had never lived."
God reached out and took my hand in His...I looked deeply into His eyes and
marveled at such brilliance...and I was silent. And then I said,
"God, being the father of all mankind what lessons in life do you want your
children to learn and grow from?"
God looked at me...with His huge sparkling eyes, a smile on his face... and
said to me,
 | "My child...the first thing that comes to mind is to learn that
people cannot make anyone love them. But what they can do is learn to let
themselves be loved.
|
 | To learn that it is not healthy to compare themselves
to others.
|
 | To learn that a rich person is not a person who has it all, but
is a person who needs the least.
|
 | To learn that it only takes a second to open
painful wounds in the people we love, and it may take many years to heal them.
|
 |
To learn to forgive others by practicing forgiveness every day. |
 | To learn that it
is not always enough to be forgiven by others for what they have said or
done....that they must learn to forgive themselves. |
 | To learn that there are
people who love them dearly even though those people may not know how to express
their love or show their feelings. |
 | To learn and acknowledge that two
people looking at the same thing will each see it differently, and most
importantly to learn that I am always here." |
